The NUSS Outstanding Member Award recognises members who have distinguished themselves and rendered excellent volunteer service to NUSS, NUS and its predecessor institutions.

Is the nomination open to all members?

Yes, nomination is opened to all members, including spouse members and parent members.

How can I submit nominations for NUSS Distinguished and Outstanding Member Awards 2023?

Nominations must be made using this online form. Nominations are now open until 15 June 2023.

Can I nominate more than one NUSS member?

Yes. There is no limit to the number of members you can nominate as long as they fulfil the criteria.

Should we seek consent from the NUSS member(s) before submitting the nomination(s)?

Informing the NUSS member is optional. While you may inform the nominee to get more details to support the nomination, all nominations will be independently reviewed by the Judging Panel with final shortlist kept confidential until the Award Ceremony.

Can NUSS member self-nominate?

Yes.

What is the selection process like?

The selection process involves four phases - Nomination, Evaluation by Judging Panel, Endorsement by the Management Committee, and Announcement. Nominations are received through this online form and evaluated by the Judging Panel. Once the Judging Panel has made its final decision and the Management Committee endorses the award recipients, the award recipients will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.

Who sits on the Awards Judging Panel?

The Judging Panel comprises NUSS Advisory Panel members, Mr S Dhanabalan (Chairperson), Professor Tommy Koh, Dr Gerard Ee and NUSS President Mr Edward Tay.

What qualities are the Judging Panel looking for in an Awardee?

The Judging Panel is seeking outstanding members who have distinguished themselves in their service and contributions to NUSS and NUS or its predecessor institutions. For the NUSS Distinguished Member Award category, the member would have also rendered excellent and sustained service to the wider community.

When will the Awards recipients be announced?

The awards recipients and nominators will be notified after the Judging Panel has finalised and the Management Committee has endorsed the selection. The recipients will receive their Awards at the Awards Ceremony, and the recipients will be announced through various online and printed publicity platforms during and after the Ceremony.
