| Message From The Candidate: | Message From The Candidate:Dear Fellow Members! I have been a member of NUSS since 2002 and have had the opportunity to serve in various sub-committees for more than 20 years! I served on the Management Committee from 2008-2010 as Deputy Chair of F&B and Membership during the busy years of the official opening of the new Kent Ridge and Bukit Timah guildhouses before taking time off for career advancement but remaining very engaged in the sub-committees. I have had the opportunity to serve in Exco, MC, Finance, Intellectual Pursuit, Membership, Alumni Development, Comms & IT, F&B and Facilities panel. I was elected back in 2022 and is currently the Chairman for F&B, Deputy Chair for Comms & IT and Deputy Chair for Facilities panel. The last 3 years have been particularly rewarding for me as we have made many significant changes to different aspects of our 3 clubhouses of which I have listed some below: At F&B level Makeover of the Kent Ridge lobby lounge, offering barista coffee and light bites Revamp of the Mandalay restaurant after 6 years, with dim sum offerings, whole day wok and zi-char menu as well as Western selections, in line with a HK-style café Opened retail shops at both Kent Ridge and Suntec offering wines at close to wholesale prices Evaluate band rotation and addition at both Kent Ridge and Suntec bars so that the entertainment never gets stale Increased monthly pairing events partnering different vendors for wine, whisky and sake Shortened promotional items from quarterly to bi-monthly to increase rotation and variety in the food and drinks menu, including healthy menus and wine of the month promotions Started new daily breakfast buffet at Café on the Ridge with increased staffing headcount in view of the Ridge hotel Increased wedding uptakes at Kent Ridge and Suntec through online media, external and internal wedding shows Coming up: quarterly single-day events for the enjoyment and bonding of our members that all can participate! At Facilities level Completed the Engie project, of which the entire Kent Ridge clubhouse air-conditioning was renewed Converted the Suntec Jackpot room to The Bar Chamber, another superb venue for our members to utilise Completed the Pickleball courts project with new rooftop pickleball courts at our Kent Ridge clubhouse Consolidated maintenance and cleaning contract from 3 operators into 1, and making it performance-based Completed partial terrace awning and partial timber decking renewal at Bar on the Ridge At Comms & Tech level Improved channels of members’ communication through WhatsApp and Telegram Increased and improved pre and post events publicity and members’ update Increased social media presence and NUSS profiling for future membership drive Completed and constant update of the NUSS app and component modules Consolidated and itemized statement of accounts with separate breakdown of F&B spending Ongoing improvement for in-app and browser booking of facilities and F&B reservations The next 2 years will be essential with more work to come including the Kent Ridge jackpot repurposing and a revamp of our ageing facilities.
